Here's a copy of the December Newsletter I send out for the Rand Roll and Chaos Gen Newsletter.

Highlighted Gens and Tools

The Feywild Vault has a new D&D Magic Item Generator, which generates items mostly for 5E (but adaptable to other editions). It has curses, items types and filters for particular items such as spears or flutes.

SectorCrucible by Luca Tabone is a universe generator for Starforged (but could work for other sci-fi games)

Hexgrinder is a hex generator using procedural hex maps. It has random encounters, settlements and dungeons. It also looks like random encounters can be customised.

Gamebooks

The 100 Endings Book Club book for December is Lost in the City by Joseph Fry. There's still time to play it over the holiday season! The book for January is the Darkness over Arkham by Jonathan Green, in the theme New Gamebooks by Established Authors.

The Gamebooks Guide for Veterans has been updated. It's by GamebooksGuide, who also has a youtube channel on gamebooks. 

The Lindenbaum Prize 2026 has been announced, open for entries from Feb until May. You can submit gamebooks of up to 100 sections and in English.

Rand Roll Articles

Solo RPGs finishes up Ultraviolet Grasslands solo with Over the Lake, Around the Lake and then the final part and wrap-up. It also goes over Stonehell Summer Solo using Old School Essentials. There's also a series on the Chaos Solo Engine under Random Tables.

Random Tables continues with the tables for Chaos Solo Engine, covering Starting SituationsCharacter ConceptSetting Ideas and the Yes/No Oracle.

Tools, Titles and Tables has am updated Science Fiction PDFs guide and new one for British Fantasy & RPGs.

PDFs on DriveThru & Itch

Chaos Solo Engine - Fantasy Basic has been released on DriveThruRPG. Itch to follow at some point over holiday season. It's a free version of a simple emulator for solo rpgs. 

It uses d20 tables for the Yes / No Oracle, Test the Scene and Events of Chaos, and has d20 inspiration tables covering the basics of solo play.

The complete version will follow in 2026, with more tables and options.
