The Darkness Over Arkham
It's full title is The Darkness Over Arkham: An Arkham Horror Investigators Gamebook. By Jonathan Green it's a horror investigation gamebook and the first in a series. It's our January book for the 100 Endings Book Club. Join us on the 100 Endings & Rand Roll Discord if you've got any questions or want to discuss it.
In the Darkness Over Arkham you're investigating the gruesome death of a professor. Pick a path, collect allies and clues and find the killer before they strike again.
Jonathan Green has written many other gamebooks, including many for Fighting Fantasy and the ACE Gamebook series. There's more information at Jonathan's blog. I interviewed Jonathan last year here on Rand Roll and he's also the main organiser of Fighting Fantasy Fest.
Ways to Play the Darkness Over Arkham
The Darkness Over Arkham is available in paperback in a few places and there's a sample 30 pages to try over at Aconyte Books.
It's also available in digital format at DriveThruRPG. According to the publisher page, it's also available as an ebook in other places (but couldn't see an ebook on Amazon UK).
Other Options
If you've played the Darkness Over Arkham already or want another option, the theme for Jan 2026 is New Gamebooks by Established Authors.
The runner up title was Tides of Terror: Destiny Quest by Michael J. Ward. It's diceless with multiple characters, so quite different to previous Destiny Quest titles.
Finishing Up
Feel free to join us on the Rand Roll Discord or at the Gamebooks subreddit.
Vote for February in a week or two. Theme undecided, but they'll be a couple of polls on that in the next few days.
