I'm starting a gamebook club, called the 100 Endings Book Club. September will be Heart of Ice by Dave Morris.
A Gamebook Bookclub
From September we'll have a monthly gamebook club, reading and discussing a gamebook.
It's free to join in (but you'll need to get your own copy of the gamebook!), and you're invited to join and discuss on the Rand Roll Discord where there's a new channel for 100 Endings Book Club.
They'll also be posts about the monthly book up on Reddit and Bsky, maybe Instagram and Facebook, but these can easily be lost in the mist!
Heart of Ice
The classic gamebook Heart of Ice by Dave Morris is September's gamebook. It's a diceless gamebook set in a frozen over future Earth. You choose 3 skills from a list of 10 and make hard choices about who you help, paths you take and equipment you take.
If you've played Heart of Ice to death or want something different, the alternative is any of the books from the same series. Down Among the Dead Men, Necklace of Skulls and Once Upon a Time in Arabia.
They'll be a separate post for Heart of Ice at the start of September.
Future Gamebooks
Gamebooks for future months will be chosen halfway through the month before. This will be done via a poll on the Rand Roll Patreon, open to any paid patrons.
Future planned Months include Horror (Oct 2025), Fighting Fantasy (Nov/Dec), Something New (Nov/Dec).
In 2026 options include a Classic Series, Open-World Month, Lone Wolf, Huge Gamebooks and Science Fiction. When Steam Highwayman 4 (Princes of the West) comes out, that will also be one, as I'm based in Devon.
There's also the possibility in the future of having a solo rpg book club. It would run alongside the 100 Endings Book Club, for games such as Notorious, Starforged, Colostle, Apothecaria and Broken Cask.
Finishing Up
I considered other names, and might update this one at some point. Other ones were the Rand Roll Gamebook Club, Turn To 400 Book Club, Many Endings Gamebook Club, Hard Choices Gamebook Club and Chaos Gamebook Club.
